"naturalized and believable, I fell for it. And I'm not necessarily gullible."
Notes to Self are longer journal entries from Seven Yrs Ago. I was 21 mid-2014.
Waiting for Guffman 2.5 stars
– pace matches the setting
slow, meandering old values (patriotism + sincerity) that thru caring about the characters (uncondescending, more poking fun) who are naturalized and believable, I fell for it. And I’m not necessarily gullible.
– What sets it apart from the mockumentary sitcoms of today, for me, is it lacks the sarcasm of today, modern slick sarcasm
– Appreciate also that there really is no “straight man.” Makes more sense to have it in one independent project
You would need one in a TV show to ring the audience in and identify and keep the show going, so if you’re gonna do something with “bizarre” characterizations, easier to pull off in 1 feature length film
