“What every generation needs are both”
Notes to Self are longer journal entries from Seven Yrs Ago. Read Sticky, “A big thing rolling” for snipped poetry. I was 20 in late 2013.
Part of being smart is knowing when to show that—when it would be appreciated. Sometimes being a writer means taking the message of cliches and saying it in a new way. What cliches and the old stories say aren’t wrong—the majority of their messages are noble truths, moral, ethical, social codes to live our lives by.
What every generation needs are both new ideas to keep moving forward and good ol’ ideas renewed in an innovative way to prevent moving backward. The message is already old enough to be relatable so the words don’t have to be the same.
